about…
Welcome!
I'm Sophia — a yoga teacher, neuroscience student and former Shell manager who believes that the most important thing we can do for our performance, our relationships and our lives is learn how to take care of our minds.
I spent over seven years leading strategy, partnerships and growth at Shell across global markets. I know firsthand what sustained high pressure does to a person - the inability to switch off, the relentless cognitive load, the decision fatigue, the slow erosion of clarity and presence. I also know that without the right tools, mental health deteriorates quietly, and performance follows.
What I didn't know then - and what neuroscience is now making clear - is that the tools to meet these challenges have existed for thousands of years. The ancient practices of yoga, breathwork and meditation are not alternatives to science. They are increasingly validated by it.
That realisation changed the direction of my life. I left Shell, moved to Australia, began training as a yoga teacher and enrolled in a second Master’s - this time in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King's College London. What started as a personal search became a professional one: how do we bring this research to life in a way that is honest, rigorous and genuinely useful to people navigating the very real challenges of modern life?
Flourish is my answer to that question. It is a workshop programme that brings together the science of yoga, breathwork and meditation - not to optimise people, but to help them live more fully. To be more present, more regulated, more compassionate. Better for themselves and those around them.
I hold a First-Class MSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester and am currently completing my second MSc in the Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King's College London. I am a qualified yoga teacher (RYT 200hr) with sixteen years of personal practice and two years of teaching experience across studios in Sydney.
Whether you have found me through yoga, through neuroscience or through a search for something that actually works - I'm glad you're here.
